The fledglings are up and about and the parents have been teaching them to hunt. Here is one perched on the pergola:
Lisa was walking up toward the garden the other day and saw one in the scrub oaks just hanging out. It didn't fly away when she got closer so she took a shot of it:

Wondering why it didn't fly off, she looked around and discovered it was gaurding the remains of it's meal:

In case you were wondering, it was a rat and for the record, I'm thrilled that the hawks are thinning the rat population. I hope they continue to do so with vigor:
