Huntsman Endorses McCain

From the Salt Lake Tribune today:

WASHINGTON -- Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. has thrown his support behind Sen. John McCain's likely presidential bid, skipping over a fellow Mormon, Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who also is gearing up for 2008.

The article continues:

Huntsman was unavailable for an interview Wednesday, but spokesman Mike Mower said that the governor and McCain "share common viewpoints on many important issues, such as those impacting the western states and have similar viewpoints on international issues." Mower said the decision to back McCain is not a slight to Romney and the governor "thinks he's doing a great job," but Huntsman and McCain share more common viewpoints.

The statment in bold is a code phrase for amnesty in the immigration debate.

Jon, Great headsup, Thanks! Blogotional and Hedgehog from my SoCal Bloggers Alliance like you and me are big Romney fans too. I think this post need to be dicussed by knowledgeble bloggers. Gov. Huntsman has endorsed McCain. By pure happenstance I posted on Romney yesterday too but on the Commonwealth PAC that has given Romney a nice War Chest. I think you are right that Gov. Huntsman a fellow Mormon, is throwing his hat in for McCain because it has to do with Immigration policy. I was wondering if it has to do with potential ambitions beyond Utah that Huntsman may have( a Cabinet post in a McCain administration)? Blogotional and Hegdehog have a nice blog on a President Romney at Article 6(http://article6blog.com/). This is very provocative indeed!!!
Thanks. Francis
