Digging Indifference
I want to be angry, but I just can't be. I put the article about the Supreme Court decision in with a couple of humorous stories from the Tribune on purpose because it's hard to be outraged at what is routine. Today's headlines have becomes boring, or even something to make fun of. When things are going along smooth and a story or incident rears it's ugly head and upsets my world, it's easy. The outrage flows like the spring run-off. Lately, though, it's been one outrageous thing after another so that my outrage-o-meter has become de-sensitized. Just when I think I could become good and riled up about a Primary race, my enthusiasm is punctured (after a good slapping by Jpod) first by the Republican lead Congress acting like the United Nations, followed up by the round house punch of today's Supreme Court decision.
So for the time being, I'm going to pour myself a tall, cold one; grab the PS2 controller with the kid, and settle in for some mindless entertainment. Tonight, I'm checking out. Maybe when I wake up, the whole Supreme Court thing will have been a dream.
Nah!
