Fake DD 214

Michelle Malkin points us to what looks to me like a fake DD 214 (Discharge form) from our favorite war hero Jesse MacBeth. Looking at it, I was immediately struck by how "off" it looked. I pulled out a copy of mine and saw what was wrong. Just about everything, in fact. On my official one, everything is in CAPS, and everything has double slash seperators. Here take a look for yourself:

You will also notice that nowhere on mine, does it say "Certified True Copy." It doesn't have to because it's the real deal.

Looks a lot like my DD 214.

I don't see anything wrong with this DD214. I was an administrative chief in the Marine Corps for many, many years and used to prepare DD214's. If it says "Certified True Copy" that's probably because it was a certified true copy of the original. That's a fairly common occurrence. I have one of my in my possession that came from National Personnel Records in St. Louis that says "Certified True Copy." No having everything in caps and/or having double slashes doesn't mean it isn't real.

After looking through a few of my DD214s I could see how this one might pass through as an original. Although I do question everthing being in capital letters it would depend on the clerk typing this. I would question her forgein duty however this should also reflex in her sea duty or deployed time. I have come across many imposters in my lifetime and within two minutes I can regonize a liar from just the few questions that I ask. Whats Ironic is that most of them are all in Special Forces in the Army.

I think that I have met one of these kinds of special people who lie about military service, although I've seen a picture of him in his fatigues (or however you spell that mess. He told me stories about how he was SpecOPS in the ARMY and went to Panama and did all kinds of things he can't talk about. I am tempted at times to make a request using a form I found out about to check and see if he really did serve.
I myself tried to enter twice, and almost went into the MARINES the second time but got nervous and the MEPS dr Permanently discharged me from service over a damn minor mitral valve issue I shouldn't have brought up last minute. I never lie about being military, I just tell people that I tried and couldn't get in. Some people think you just walk in to a recruiter and then poof your in the military...I filled out a but load of paperwork only to not make it in. Hell I tell people at times that I wanted to be a SEAL in the Navy (first attempted enlist) and they ask me if I'm nuts! I don't think they get it?! I wanted to be the best, but hell I'd rather have tried and failed then failed to try.
